About the role
Balfour Beatty is delivering some of the UK's most significant energy infrastructure projects, helping connect communities and supporting the transition to a low-carbon future. We're looking for a Project Management Officer (PMO) to join our Cabling team on a major infrastructure project in North Yorkshire.
Reporting to the Project Director, you'll play a key role in supporting project governance, reporting and project controls across a large, multidisciplinary delivery team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-focused project professional who enjoys bringing structure, visibility and control to complex projects.
You'll work closely with operational, commercial, engineering and planning teams, ensuring project reporting, governance requirements and assurance activities are delivered accurately and on time, enabling project teams to focus on the safe and efficient delivery of works.
What you'll be doing
- Coordinate, compile and submit project reports in line with contractual requirements.
- Produce weekly and monthly project performance reports.
- Coordinate inputs from project teams and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
- Develop and maintain project dashboards and KPI reporting.
- Provide meaningful project performance information to senior stakeholders.
- Maintain project governance documentation and records.
- Coordinate governance reviews, submissions and assurance activities.
- Monitor compliance with project governance requirements and processes.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure actions are tracked through to completion.
- Maintain governance trackers and provide compliance updates to the Project Leadership Team.
- Manage project action trackers and monitor close-out activities.
- Coordinate and maintain lessons learned registers.
- Support the administration of risk, opportunity and improvement registers.
- Track and report on outstanding actions and overdue deliverables.
- Manage and monitor project actions, ensuring timely completion and escalation where required.
- Coordinate the preparation of Steering Committee packs and presentations.
- Support Business Unit Review (BUR) submissions and reporting requirements.
- Collate project updates and performance data for executive reporting.
- Ensure reports are reviewed and distributed in line with agreed timescales.
- Support the maintenance and review of project management plans.
- Monitor compliance against project governance and management requirements.
- Ensure document owners review and update plans and procedures as required.
- Maintain project controls and programme documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
- Organise governance, performance and project control meetings.
- Prepare agendas, capture meeting minutes and maintain action logs.
- Track actions through to completion and provide regular status updates.
- Act as a central point of contact for governance, reporting and project controls activities.
- Liaise effectively with project managers, engineers, planners, commercial teams and support functions.
Who we're looking for
We're keen to hear from candidates who thrive in a project environment and enjoy working across multiple stakeholders to ensure projects remain compliant, well-governed and on track.
- Experience as a Project Management Officer (PMO), Project Coordinator, Project Controls Officer, Project Administrator or similar project support role.
- Strong understanding of project governance and reporting processes.
- Experience preparing management reports, dashboards and project performance information.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and conflicting deadlines.
- Experience maintaining action trackers, governance records and project documentation.
- Experience working within construction, infrastructure, utilities, engineering or major project environments.
- Knowledge of project lifecycle governance and stage-gate review processes.
- Understanding of risk, issue, action and change management.
- APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification.
- Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or capital projects.
