The Digital Marketing and Communications Assistant will contribute to the delivery of a programme of engaging, inspiring and distinctive content by updating the School’s website, creating weekly newsletters and helping with digital output across our Nursery, Prep School and Senior School sites.
Applicants must possess strong digital skills, being able to work across a variety of platforms, software and programs, such as Mail Chimp, WordPress and ideally, the Adobe Creative Suite. Appropriate training will be given to support use of technology and platforms.

As well as being a key part of the whole School community, you will work especially closely with the Development (Alumni) team, the Admissions Department and the Headmaster’s PA. These departments share the same physical environment at the School in a suite of offices with its own pantry. The team is very strong and collaborative; being a part of it will be a genuine pleasure.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing
- In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Manager (MCM),
- successfully deliver the annual marketing plan and detailed termly plans through digital support;
- Attending School activities to take high standard photographs, and photo editing;
- Managing the school’s listings on external education directories,
- maintaining partner relationships and ensuring all submitted content is
- accurate and aligned with brand standards;
- Maintain the library of School photography and videography to ensure a
- vailability of images suitable for promotional activities, advertisements, website use and publications, and manage the database of non-photo consent
- children;
- Undertake marketing tasks as requested by departments across the School and the MCM, including creating, designing and branding PowerPoints, digital portfolios, slideshows, providing images, event programs, updating documents, etc;
- Track and report on the effectiveness of marketing activity, including external listings and referrals;
- Prepping photos into social media posts for use by the MCM;
- Uploading photographs to Estream so they may be viewed by parents on the School’s portal;
- Acting as an assistant on videography and photography shoot days and events.
Communications
- Creating two weekly School newsletters via MailChimp;
- Creating website news pages for the School;
- Updating School documents, such as policies and job adverts, and uploading them to the School websites;
- Uploading and formatting videos and images to the School’s websites;
- Collating information for School materials, such as event programs, Suttonian and Young Suttonian magazines, etc;
- Analyse and report on digital statistics, providing the MCM with information on website traffic, social media statistics, advertising and campaign results.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a relevant higher education qualification or have previous digital
- marketing experience;
- Possess previous experience of social media and other digital marketing
- platforms;
- Previous experience of Google Analytics, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, WordPress or iSAMS is desirable;
- Photography and photo editing experience is highly desirable;
- An eye for design and acting as brand guardian is important;
- Hold a full, valid UK driving licence;
- Training will be available for the successful candidate.
Must be able to

- Work collaboratively with others in order to achieve practical results;
- Be proactive in all areas of responsibility;
- Assist in set up of events at Prep School, such as Open Days, Celebration Day and more;

- Have the confidence to visit staff, lessons, obtain information from teaching staff and document activities taking place on the School sites;
- Demonstrate a high level of organisation and excellent time management.
Must have
- Commitment to Sutton Valence School, and be able to demonstrate an
- understanding of its ethos and the School’s ambitions for the future;
- High levels of energy and a ‘can do’ attitude;
- An interest in photography;
- Excellent writing, editing and production of engaging and distinctive marketing materials and publications;
- Good creative judgement, with an eye for photographic selection and an
- appreciation of graphic and typographic design;
- Proven knowledge of IT applications;
- Thorough approach and exceptional attention to detail;
- High standards of personal and professional presentation;
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Terms and Conditions
The post is available from August 2026. The starting salary is c.£27,000 per annum.
The hours of work are 8.45am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday for 52 weeks a year.
The annual holiday entitlement is five weeks plus statutory public holidays, to be taken outside of term time.
Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), and a declaration of medical fitness. It is an offence to apply for this role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
