We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Craftsperson to join our Estates Engineering team, helping maintain critical healthcare facilities across the Queen Elizabeth Hospital estate.

You'll carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and fault finding on a wide range of mechanical building services equipment, ensuring essential systems remain safe, reliable and fully compliant.
What you'll be doing
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services.
- Diagnosing and repairing faults across a wide range of plant and equipment.
- Maintaining boilers, calorifiers, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), pumps, valves and associated mechanical systems.
- Completing maintenance records accurately using CAFM systems.
- Supporting statutory compliance and ensuring all work is completed in line with healthcare engineering standards and HTM guidance.
- Working across the Queen Elizabeth Hospital estate, including the Acute Hospital, Mental Health Unit and retained estate where required.
- Responding to breakdowns and ensuring critical services are restored safely and efficiently.
- Working safely and following current Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
- Contributing to continuous improvement and sharing technical knowledge with colleagues.
What we're looking for
You'll be a qualified mechanical engineer with experience maintaining commercial or industrial building services.
Essential requirements:
- City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Completed apprenticeship or equivalent recognised training.
- Experience maintaining mechanical plant within commercial, industrial or healthcare environments.
- Good knowledge of:
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Fan Coil Units (FCUs)
- Boilers
- Calorifiers
- Plant room equipment
- Ability to diagnose faults and work independently.
- Strong understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
- Good IT skills and experience using CAFM or maintenance management systems.
Desirable:
- Previous NHS or healthcare facilities maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of Healthcare Technical Memoranda (HTMs).
- Experience working towards or holding Competent Person (CP) or Authorised Person (AP) responsibilities in areas such as water, ventilation, pressure systems or medical gases.
