EH Care Ltd is a small, Ofsted-regulated children's residential home based in Leamington Spa. We provide high-quality, nurturing and therapeutically informed care to children and young people in a small group home setting. We are looking for an experienced and qualified Deputy Manager to join our management team and help lead the home to the highest standards of care and compliance.
The Role
As Deputy Manager you will be a key part of our leadership team, working closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the day-to-day running of the home meets the requirements of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015. You will lead shifts, line manage residential practitioners, and act as a role model and mentor to the team.
This is a hands-on management role for someone who is passionate about children's residential care and ready to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts as shift leader, ensuring primary care and safeguarding measures are upheld at all times
- Line manage residential children's practitioners and delegate tasks in line with policies and procedures
- Complete and oversee all relevant daily paperwork, key working files, risk assessments, health and safety records and statutory documentation
- Maintain and oversee ClearCare records, reviewing previous day entries on arrival to shift, preparing reports for social workers and upcoming meetings including LAC reviews
- Ensure each child has access to at least 25 hours of education tailored to their individual need, working with education professionals and your line manager
- Ensure each child is registered with a local GP, optician and dentist and attends regular appointments
- Uphold each child's care plan at all times and liaise with the social care team where needed
- Manage the home's rota, ensuring it is safe and that all shifts are led by appropriately trained staff
- Conduct monthly supervisions with residential practitioners and record these accordingly
- Lead the induction and training of new team members
- Address performance concerns with practitioners, including personal improvement plans where required (with line manager approval)
- Participate in an on-call rota with advance notice
- Contribute to staff meetings and the overall objectives of the company
- Keep up to date with safeguarding legislation and maintain a high standard of confidentiality at all times
What We Are Looking For
- Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential
- Proven experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader in a children's home – essential
- Sound knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and relevant safeguarding legislation
- Experience of ClearCare or similar recording systems – desirable
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work shift patterns including evenings, weekends and sleep-in duties
- Full enhanced DBS with children's barred list (or willingness to apply)
- A genuine commitment to the welfare, dignity and individual needs of the children and young people in our care
What We Offer
- £16.50 per hour
- £50 per sleep shift (approximately 6 per month, potentially more)
- Circa £36,000 per year (open to discussion for the right candidate)

Important Information
This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check with children's barred list, satisfactory references, and full pre-employment checks in line with Schedule 2 of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Pay: £36,000.00-£45,600.00 per year
