We are looking for a positive, proactive and enthusiastic Member Engagement Manager to build and strengthen relationships with members, prospective members and industry stakeholders across the South-West region, including growers, retailers, manufacturers/suppliers and associates. In this role, you will support membership growth and retention, promote Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) products and services, and ensure members receive a high-quality experience that helps them get the most from their membership.

About the HTA
The HTA has 1,350 members, including garden retailers, growers, landscapers, and suppliers to the garden industry. The HTA lobbies and campaigns for its members within the horticulture industry and has an excellent reputation. We provide our members with the opportunity to learn, innovate, and network with others in the industry.
We have an effective political lobbying team working to enable the best conditions for our members to flourish across the UK and our research and insights team provide impactful data to help our members run productive and resilient businesses.
We have been running the National Garden Gift scheme since 1962. These garden gift cards can be bought and redeemed at HTA garden centre members sites throughout the UK and can also be purchased online and in some supermarket gift card malls. It is the biggest garden gift card scheme in the country – locking in around £40 million of consumer spend to horticulture and our members’ businesses.

What you’ll be doing
As Member Engagement Manager, you’ll support membership recruitment, retention and engagement across the South-West region. You'll gather member insight, identify opportunities to enhance the member experience, promote HTA products and services, and represent the HTA at industry meetings and events.
This is a home-based role, but you will be required to visit our office in Chilton, Oxfordshire for regular in-person collaboration with colleagues. This role requires regular travel to member and prospective member sites within the South-West region.
Key responsibilities:
· Deliver membership recruitment and retention targets by engaging with prospective, new, existing and at-risk members.
· Aligning with the organisation’s objectives, develop and deliver a comprehensive regional engagement plan in the South-West.
· Promote all HTA products, services, events, preferred partner opportunities and sponsorship to members and relevant stakeholders to ensure maximum benefit from their membership.
· Work with the HTA Services team to ensure effective processing of member queries.
· Gather member insight and recommend improvements which enhance the membership experience.
· Represent the HTA at meetings, committees, conferences and industry events.
· Champion our gifting engagement scheme, helping members with sales performance, and act as the first point of contact for regional member queries, ensuring prompt resolution.
· Build strong relationships across HTA teams to ensure a seamless member experience, maintaining accurate records and CRM updates, and providing reports and updates to internal stakeholders as required.
· Support the creation of the preferred partner and event sales budget.

What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role, you'll be a confident relationship-builder who enjoys meeting people, understanding their needs and helping them get the most value from the services and support available to them. Commercially aware, proactive and organised, you'll be comfortable working independently while building effective relationships both internally and externally.
Essential Experience, Qualifications & Skills
· Knowledge/experience of the environmental horticulture industry and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses within the sector
· Experience in a customer-facing, account management or similar role involving business development, stakeholder engagement and relationship management
· Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across organisations of varying sizes and levels of seniority.
· Strong communication, influencing and networking skills, with the confidence to represent an organisation externally
· A customer-focused approach, with a track record of delivering excellent service and identifying opportunities to increase engagement and retention
· Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously
· Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to take ownership and see tasks through to completion
· Strong administrative and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience maintaining accurate records or CRM systems
· Willingness to travel regularly across the South-West region, including occasional overnight stays
· Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for business travel
Desirable Experience, Qualifications & Skills
· Experience working towards recruitment, retention, sales or business development targets
· Experience working within a trade association, membership organisation or similarly relationship-focused environment
· An enthusiasm for horticulture, gardens, gardening and the positive impact of green spaces.
