Job Purpose
The Client is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Brand Ambassadors to support a high-profile technology campaign during University Tech Week 2026.
The successful candidates will represent the Client professionally across the University, working in pairs and wearing a digital advertising backpack weighing under 4 kg.
The role involves walking assigned routes around key University Tech Week venues and high-footfall areas, helping to maximise campaign visibility and answering basic questions from members of the public.
Candidates should be confident, approachable and comfortable with prolonged walking while carrying the digital advertising backpack. Previous customer-facing or promotional experience is preferred but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Wear and operate a digital advertising backpack weighing under 4 kg throughout paid working time, except during scheduled breaks or where temporary removal is required for health and safety.
- Walk assigned routes in pairs to maximise campaign visibility across Cambridge.
- Work both inside authorised University Tech Week venues and on nearby public streets as directed by the Campaign Supervisor.
- Maintain a friendly, approachable and professional manner when interacting with members of the public.
- Answer basic questions about University Tech Week and direct members of the public to the appropriate official website or app for further information.
- Provide accurate and helpful information without making assumptions or providing information that has not been confirmed.
- Direct ticket-related and programme-related enquiries to the official Tech Week website or Events app.
- Follow assigned routes, pairings, break times and reasonable instructions provided by the Supervisor.
- Remain aware of pedestrians, traffic and the surrounding environment while carrying out the role.
- Avoid obstructing walkways or behaving in an intrusive manner.
- Arrive on time and be ready to work at the agreed start time each day.
- Maintain a clean, presentable and professional appearance throughout the campaign.
- Report any accident, equipment fault, damage, unusual heat or safety concern to the Campaign Supervisor promptly.
- Handle the advertising equipment carefully and take reasonable measures to prevent damage.
- Do not open, dismantle, alter, adjust, unplug, tamper with or attempt to repair the advertising equipment.
- Represent the Client positively and professionally throughout the campaign.
Campaign Knowledge
Brand Ambassadors will receive a campaign brief covering Tech Week and should familiarise themselves with the key information before starting the assignment.
Key information includes:
- Cambridge Tech Week takes place from 14th to 18th September 2026.
- The 2026 theme is “How Deep Tech Changes the World”.
- The main conference programme is ticketed.
- Members of the public should be directed to the official Tech Week website for ticket information.
- Ticket holders should use the Events app for the latest programme, venue and event information.
- Brand Ambassadors should not promise entry, availability or access to any particular event.
- If unsure about an answer, Brand Ambassadors should direct the individual to the official Tech Week website or app rather than guessing.
Candidate Requirements
- Available and punctual for all three days: 15th, 16th and 17th September 2026.
- Comfortable walking for approximately seven paid hours per day across three consecutive days.
- Comfortable wearing and carrying a digital advertising backpack weighing under 4 kg.
- Fluent English.
- Confident and comfortable speaking politely and clearly with members of the public.
- Able to work effectively as part of a pair.
- Able to follow instructions and assigned routes.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Comfortable wearing clean, presentable clothing and closed, supportive footwear.
- Previous customer-facing, promotional or brand ambassador experience is desirable but not essential.
