We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Site Manager to lead the on-site delivery of works to a Grade I listed building, one of the most architecturally significant properties in London. This role demands exceptional attention to detail and a deep respect for heritage fabric, working within a fast-paced, design-led environment where quality, precision, and discretion are paramount.
You'll work closely with specialist trades to oversee the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, and within budget.
Oversee health and safety on site, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and maintaining a safe working environment at all times
Monitoring and recording all permits to work for all trades. Must be able to inspect RAMS, safety harnesses, tag scaffolding etc.
Lead on emergency preparedness, including incident investigation, RIDDOR reporting where applicable, fire safety management, and site first-aid provision
Conduct site inductions and regular toolbox talks, ensuring all trades and subcontractors are briefed on site-specific hazards, including those associated with historic fabric (e.g. legacy materials such as asbestos or lead paint)
Review and enforce quality standards, particularly around traditional materials, methods, and craftsmanship
Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, RFIs, technical queries, and progress photographs
Chair or attend site meetings and provide clear, accurate reporting to senior stakeholders
Manage site logistics, deliveries, and welfare facilities within the constraints of a sensitive, restricted site
Manage the day-to-day running of the site, coordinating all trades, specialist contractors, and conservation specialists
Ensure works are carried out strictly in accordance with listed building consent, conservation method statements, and heritage officer requirements
Manage short-term programmes, tracking progress against schedule and reporting variances
Relevant trade or construction-related qualification (e.g. HNC/HND, NVQ, or degree in Construction Management or related field)
NEBOSH, SMSTS and CSCS card (Black/Gold preferred) essential; First Aid at Work desirable
5+ years' experience as a Site Manager, with proven experience working on listed buildings or heritage/conservation projects essential
Strong working knowledge of traditional construction methods and materials (lime mortar, timber repair, historic masonry, etc.)
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the discretion required for working in private, high-profile environments
Calm, methodical approach, comfortable operating within the constraints of a sensitive and tightly controlled site
