Overview
We are looking for a hardworking and reliable General Boat Yard Worker to join our team. This is a hands-on role, customer facing, involving the maintenance, movement, and preparation of canal boats. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, safety-conscious, and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with launching and moving boats within the yard.
- Carry out basic boat maintenance tasks, cleaning, sanding, painting, crane banksman and possibly welding.
- Operate yard equipment such as forklifts, crane, high powered pressure washer etc (training provided where necessary).
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the boat yard and workshop areas.
- Support with repairs and servicing work.
- Handle tools, materials, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Assist customers and team members as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a boat yard, marina, construction, or similar manual labour environment is preferred but not essential.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and work outdoors.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality is essential.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Basic mechanical or maintenance skills are an advantage.
- Forklift or machinery operation experience is beneficial.
- Valid driving licence preferred but not essential.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position 40 hour week, Mon – Fri 9-5pm
- Self employed basis (sub-contractor)
- No Bank Holidays or weekends
- Outdoor and physically demanding work environment.
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
