We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Reading from September 2026. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm, providing support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities both within the classroom and through targeted interventions.
About the Role:
Working alongside class teachers and the school's SEND team, you will play an important role in helping pupils access learning, develop confidence and make progress academically, socially and emotionally. You will support children with a variety of additional needs, adapting your approach to suit each child's individual learning style whilst encouraging independence and positive engagement throughout the school day.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Patience, adaptability and confidence building positive relationships with pupils
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage behaviour using calm, positive strategies
- Comfort providing personal care support with sensitivity, respect and dignity
