Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Professional Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer, you will lead and deliver multiple low-complexity projects independently and contribute to more complex projects under the direction of senior colleagues. You will be responsible for the full scope of mechanical engineering consultancy services, including calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, site surveys, construction-stage duties, client liaison, and coordination with internal and external design teams. You will also support project delivery, manage your own workload, and contribute to team development.

Technical Mechanical Design Expertise
Strong competence in core mechanical design principles, calculations, specifications, drawings, and reporting. -
Project Delivery & Leadership
Ability to lead and deliver multiple projects, take design responsibility, and manage deliverables proactively. -
Digital Design & Technical Tools
Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit MEP, IES, NBS, and Microsoft packages. Further training may be provided where required. -
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Strong communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills with clients, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams. -
Mentoring & Team Support
Ability to guide and support junior to intermediate engineers while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Ideally, you will hold an accredited Building Services or Mechanical Engineering degree, or a higher-level qualification. Chartered status, or working towards chartership, is desirable. You should have experience delivering mechanical building services designs across multiple sectors from concept to RIBA stage 5/6, with a strong understanding of technical and legislative requirements for mechanical and public health services. Experience with sustainability, energy conservation, renewable technologies, fee estimates, bids, and security clearance (or meet the criteria to hold) MOD SC level is required.
Working Environment
This role is based in Manchester within a busy building services team. Hybrid or flexible working arrangements may be available, depending on project and business needs. Projects may span a range of sectors and require collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
