Know great care when you see it and know how to bring out the best in a team?
We're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Deputy Care Home Manager to join our team at Danygraig.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who knows residential care, understands dementia and enjoys being right at the heart of a service supporting the Home Manager, developing the team and making sure the people who live with us receive the very best care and support.
You might already be a Deputy Manager or perhaps you're an experienced Team Leader or Care Coordinator who's ready for that next step.
Either way, we're looking for someone who knows their stuff, isn't afraid to get stuck in and, most importantly, genuinely cares about getting things right for residents.
A Little About Danygraig
Danygraig is a beautiful Grade II listed home set within 2.5 acres of landscaped gardens, with lovely views across the Bristol Channel and surrounding parkland.
The home has 48 bedrooms across four units and provides residential and respite care for people living with mental health conditions, including dementia.
Our approach is centred around the individual supporting each person to achieve their personal outcomes, make their own choices and live with dignity, respect and as much independence as possible.
What Will You Be Doing?
Working closely with the Home Manager, you'll play a key role in the day to day running of Danygraig and help ensure consistently high standards of care across the home.
You'll be:
- Supporting the Home Manager with the effective day-to-day running of the service
- Providing visible, approachable leadership to the care team
- Supporting, guiding and motivating colleagues to deliver excellent person-centred care
- Helping ensure residents' individual needs, choices and outcomes remain at the heart of the service
- Supporting care planning, reviews and risk assessments
- Monitoring the quality and accuracy of care records and documentation
- Supporting safe medication practices and appropriate record keeping
- Recognising and responding appropriately to changes in residents' needs
- Supporting staff development, supervision and good practice
- Helping maintain high standards around safeguarding, infection control, health and safety and quality
- Communicating confidently with residents, relatives, colleagues and other professionals
- Supporting the service to maintain high standards and continually improve
- Stepping up and providing leadership when the Home Manager isn't available
This is a role for someone who likes to be present and involved. You'll know what's happening in the home, know your team and, importantly, know the people you're there to support.
What We're Looking For
For this role, you'll need:
- Level 3 or above in Health & Social Care or an equivalent relevant qualification
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Team Leader, Care Coordinator or in a similar senior care role
- Experience supporting people living with dementia
- Strong knowledge and understanding of person-centred care
- Experience with care planning and care documentation
- Confidence using electronic care recording systems
- Knowledge of medication management and safe care practices
- A good understanding of safeguarding and the responsibilities that come with working in a regulated care service
- Confidence supporting, guiding and developing a care team
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The ability to prioritise, make decisions and remain calm when things get busy
- A warm, approachable and professional leadership style
We're looking for someone who wants to be part of the home, support their team and help create the kind of service they'd be proud for someone they love to live in.
Hours & Working Pattern

The role also includes remote oversight of the service at weekends, participation in the on-call rota, and working one weekend per month within the service.
When you work your weekend in the home, you'll receive two days off during that week.
We want applicants to understand the full responsibilities of the role from the outset, so please make sure this working pattern suits you before applying.
