This rewarding SEND Teaching Assistant role involves providing tailored support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially within the classroom environment.
The SEND Teaching Assistant Role
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement personalised learning strategies
- Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and communication development
- Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
- Encourage independence, engagement, and positive behaviour
- Monitor progress and contribute to ongoing assessments and reviews
The Ideal Candidate for this SEND Teaching Assistant role
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND, either in a school or similar setting
- Understanding of a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health needs
- Patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential
- Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
