About the Role
We are a modern law firm based in Glasgow,, specialising in immigration law. We provide services to a wide range of clients throughout the UK and overseas. The firm is undergoing a period of expansion and are now seeking an Associate Solicitor to join our team.
Working Pattern:
This is an in person role. Hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of asylum, immigration and appeal matters for private clients throughout the UK. You will be expected to provide high-quality legal advice and representation, demonstrating a strong understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable clients.
In addition to casework, you will play a key role in the development of junior fee earners, including trainee solicitors. You will provide guidance on legal strategy, and contribute to training and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the department. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage a diverse caseload of immigration and asylum matters.
- Deliver clear and accurate legal advice to clients with professionalism and empathy.
- Prepare detailed and timely submissions, representations, and appeals to the Home Office and Immigration & Asylum Tribunal.
- Conduct casework in compliance with guidelines and firm policies.
- Keep up to date with relevant legal developments and contribute to best practice sharing within the team.
- Mentor junior team members as required.
Essential
- 5+ Years PQE and hold a current practicing certificate in Scotland.
- Excellent knowledge of UK immigration and asylum law and procedures.
- Strong advocacy, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently and with attention to detail.
- Commitment to access to justice and supporting vulnerable individuals.
