BEAR Scotland is a leading road maintenance and management service provider in Scotland, maintaining and improving Scottish Trunk Roads including bridges and structures through some of the most scenic, but challenging, parts of the country.
The Northwest Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country. It covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling.
BEAR Scotland is seeking a Roads Technician to support the delivery of trunk road improvement schemes across the Northwest network.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical and CAD skills who enjoys supporting the practical delivery of infrastructure projects.
Job Purpose:
You will work alongside engineers and project teams to produce technical information and support the delivery of works on site.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Produce and update engineering drawings using AutoCAD
- Assist in preparing specifications, reports, and project documentation
- Support project delivery teams and contractors
- Contribute to surveys and site-based activities where required
- Assist in maintaining compliance with technical standards
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Qualification in Civil Engineering
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Good understanding of civil engineering drawings
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience with Civils 3D, KeyLines or similar
- Knowledge of DMRB
- Experience supporting infrastructure or road projects
