The opportunity
Following the opening of our new Grimsby MOT & Service Centre, we are looking for an experienced vehicle technician or mechanic to strengthen our workshop team and help us continue building the business.
We want somebody who takes pride in their work, can bring their own experience and ideas and wants to play a genuine part in helping the centre develop as part of the team.
Our preference is to find somebody who can join us permanently on a full-time basis. However, we would also consider part-time applicants, fixed working days or another flexible arrangement if it works for both sides.
Ideally, we would like somebody who is already qualified to carry out Class 4 and 7 MOT tests. However, we would also welcome applications from strong, experienced mechanics who do not currently hold an MOT qualification.
For the right person, we are prepared to support further training and upskilling, including working towards becoming an MOT tester.
You will be working in a clean, modern workshop with new equipment and a friendly, no-nonsense team that takes pride in doing the job properly.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, maintenance and repairs across a range of cars and light commercial vehicles.
- Diagnostics and fault-finding.
- Carrying out Class 4 and 7 MOT tests in line with DVSA standards, if qualified.
- Completing work to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
- Accurately completing job records as we move towards paperless and digital job management.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Following workshop health and safety procedures.
- Working with the rest of the team to provide a straightforward and reliable service to our customers.
- Sharing your knowledge and ideas to help us develop the workshop and improve how we work.
What we’re looking for
- An experienced and competent vehicle technician or mechanic.
- Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualification is preferred.
- Experienced Level 2 technicians will also be considered, particularly those interested in further training and upskilling.
- Current MOT testing status for Classes 4 and 7 would be an advantage, but it is not essential for the right mechanic.
- Good mechanical, diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work to a consistently high standard.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team.
- A full UK driving licence.
- A practical attitude and willingness to contribute ideas and help move the centre forward.
What we offer
- Full-time, part-time and flexible working arrangements considered.
- Genuine career progression, training and upskilling opportunities.
- Support towards gaining an MOT tester qualification for the right person.
- Health benefits provided through Your Care.
- One free MOT each year.
- Staff discounts and benefits.
- Modern workshop with new equipment.
- Friendly and supportive working environment.
- Uniform and PPE provided.
- Company pension.
- On-site parking.
