JOB TITLE: DevOps Engineer
SALARY: The salary banding for this role is £68,202 - £75,780 for Manchester and £78,849 - £87,610 for London.
LOCATION: Manchester or London
HOURS: 35 hours, full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
About this opportunity
Closely aligned to Everyday Banking, the Core Banking platform (CBP) has responsibility for the maintenance and development of the systems which host all of the core banking products for the Lloyds Banking Group brands. Over the coming years the Next Gen Insights Lab which sits within the CBP will build out the LBG Core Banking strategic Systems of Engagement (SOE) and Systems of Insight (SOI) , as well as migration and decommission of legacy systems.
We’re looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with a solid IT background and expert skills in DevOps Engineering. This is a leadership level role and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise and great passion for coaching and developing people in a “player-coach” model. They will also lead and participate in Engineering Guilds and Working Groups to actively promote the DevOps brand in LBG.
What will I be doing?
Taking responsibility for delivering a prescribed budget for own area of the organisation and/or conducting complex analyses on budget progress in other areas while working within established systems.
Identifying shortcomings and suggests improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures, then delivers a plan for a small element of a change management programme with guidance from a project/programme manager
Highlighting shortcomings and suggesting improvements in current IT Security processes, systems and procedures within assigned unit and/or discipline.
Delivering prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by working within established knowledge management systems.
Setting short term objectives and helps manage the performance of direct reports by working within performance management systems.
Defining, delivering, and adapting specialised products/services to meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
Providing specialised training or coaching in area of expertise to others throughout the lab.

What you’ll need
Proven experience in a DevOps Engineer role, with a focus on infrastructure design and reliability engineering
Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and experience with GCP
Proficient hands-on experience in architecting and building ephemeral environments utilising public Cloud Platforms (preferably GCP)
Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (BASH/Python)
Demonstrable experience of event stream platforms such as Kafka
Proven experience working with service mesh platforms (Istio)
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes)
Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (Terraform)
It would be great if you also had:
System of Record - Cloud Postgres SQ, Confluent Kafka, TM Vault Domain API's via APIgee
Streaming Service - Cloud SQL, Confluent Kafka, K-Stream Application.
System of Engagement - Apigee, Cloud Spanner, Domain Read API's.
System of Insight - ETL: Cloud Fusion & DBT, Orchestration: Cloud-Composer, Data Product - Big Query.
Migration - ETL: Cloud Fusion & DBT, Orchestration: Cloud-Composer, Confluent Kafka, Steaming Service: K- Stream Application, Results-BQ, Power BI / Tableau
