The Woodland Trust is looking for a Data Engineer to help us manage our data, keep our systems running smoothly and support with the integration of our new Dynamics 365 CRM solution.
The Role:
- Monitor the data engineering support board for incoming queries and move to resolution.
- Write and create SQL scripts, queries, views, indexes and optimisations.
- Document data flows and solutions and undertake analytical tasks making sure data is up to date.
- Model data sources using techniques such as Data Flow Diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams, Schema Mappings and DDL.
- Undertake data extractions, transformations, loading (ETL), testing, unit, integration and smoke.
- This is a hybrid position with a mix of home working, and from our head office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Head office attendance would be required no more than once a month on average.
The Candidate:
- Experience working as a data engineer or a similar data focused role.
- Experience of cloud-based data platforms and tooling particularly in Azure.
- Knowledge of SQL query authoring using MS SQL and Azure SQL.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience of scripting language such as Python, R, BASH/Shell, JavaScript.
- Knowledge of Rest API’s.
- Experience integrating with Dynamics 365 into data warehouse.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex data terminology to a variety of stakeholders within the organisation.
- Experience using data modelling techniques such as OOD and DFD’s.
