As a Medical Typist your responsible for checking and typist letters for our clinical teams.
Liaise with Medical Secretaries making them aware of any actions on patient’s pathway (ie. outstanding appointments, investigation requests to support the patient’s care pathway and achievement of waiting time targets.
Ensure that all correspondences are dispatched promptly to patients, GP’s and other health care provider’s as required within agreed timeframes
Be responsible for the typing of reports (ensuring that where required any outstanding appointments or tests are escalated to the relevant Medical Secretary for action.
Maintain good working relationship with Medical Secretaries liaising and raising issues as necessary thus ensuring effective management of the patient pathway within the 18 weeks standard and cancer pathways.

Audio typing of clinical letters, operation notes and discharge summaries as directed by the Junior Service Manager to meet divisional specific KPI in relation to turnaround targets ensuring a high standard of accuracy and quality.
Provide a high-quality clinical typing service to a team of consultants supporting the Divisional Patient Pathway Coordinators.
To be responsible for typing clinic letters, reports and other clinical correspondence in line with the Trust’s contractual key performance indicators (KPIs).
Follow standard operating procedures, which describe how the functions of the role will be carried out along with given timescales and key performance indicators that will be adhered to.
Work as part of a team providing cover for colleagues during sickness and annual leave where appropriate. This may include providing typing support in other departments.
You will need fast and accurate audio typing skills and a sound knowledge of medical terminology.
Checking of letters via the new DIT3 system.
Any other duties within the role of a Medical Typist and within the grade of your post
