Responsible to: Facilities Services Manager
Exceed Learning Partnershipis looking for a visionary and hands-on Chef to support our catering services across our primary academies. At ELP, we believe in "Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day," and this role is vital in ensuring our pupils have access to healthy and nutritious meals both in the school day and while attending our extended school provision.
What you will do:
Our ideal candidate will have Strong Leadership Skills, be an effective Communicator, be able to relate well to both children and adults and be a team player who can work using your own initiative.
Operational Support & Absence Cover: Lead kitchen operations in the absence of a Catering Manager at any academy across the Trust. This includes providing hands-on support during staff absences in any of our kitchens, undertaking food preparation, cooking, service, and general operational duties as required.
- Trust-Wide Events & Internal Meetings: Lead the planning, preparation, and production of high-quality catering for Trust-wide events held at the Trust office, as well as providing catering for internal meetings as required.
- Flexible Deployment: Maintain a flexible approach to deployment, traveling to any academy within the Trust to support catering teams, stabilize kitchen operations, and maintain service continuity.
- Menu Development & Provision Support: Lead the design and implementation of nutritious, compliant menus across the Trust, working in close partnership with the Facilities Services Manager and Academy Principals to meet school-specific needs. This includes specifically supporting individual academies with menu setting and food production for breakfast and wraparound provisions.
- Management Collaboration: Work closely with and provide operational support to Catering Managers across the Trust where required to ensure high standards, consistency, and culinary excellence.
Essential Criteria:

Food Hygiene Certificate Level 3.
- Management experience of a catering team
- Proven experience leading catering services (ideally within education) and managing high-performing teams.
- Strong knowledge of budgets, finance, and procurement.
- ICT skills
- The ability to maintain high standards under tight deadlines.
- A "can-do" attitude with the flexibility to lead from the front during peak service times.
