The Role
We are looking for a motivated Marine Biologist or Coastal Habitat Specialist to support marine and coastal environmental projects across Scotland.
This role is particularly suited to a graduate-level candidate with around 2+ years of practical or professional experience working with coastal and marine habitats.
We are especially interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Seagrass habitats
- Saltmarsh systems
- Native oysters and oyster beds
- Coastal biodiversity and habitat restoration
Experience across multiple habitat types would be highly desirable, but strong experience in at least one relevant area is welcomed.
The role may involve:
- Habitat monitoring and environmental assessments
- Field surveys and coastal site visits
- Support for restoration-focused projects
- Environmental data collection and reporting
- Collaboration with environmental, academic, and local stakeholders
- In-persson engagement with coastal stakeholders
RequirementsEssential:
- Degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Coastal Ecology, or related field
- Approximately 2+ years of relevant experience (including graduate project, consultancy, NGO, academic, or field experience)
- Understanding of coastal and marine ecosystems
- Experience with at least one relevant habitat type (seagrass, saltmarsh, oyster habitats, etc.)
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel across Scotland by car when required
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Location
Ideally based in South Scotland, though candidates elsewhere in Scotland willing to travel are also encouraged to apply.
