Contract Furniture Group is one of the UK's leading manufacturers and suppliers of bespoke contract furniture for the hospitality, leisure and commercial sectors. We design, manufacture and install high-quality furniture for hotels, restaurants, pubs, bars and fit-out projects across the UK.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Production Designer to join our expanding technical team.

The Role
Working closely with our Sales, Project Coordination and Manufacturing teams, you will be responsible for producing accurate manufacturing drawings and technical information that enables our factory to manufacture products right first time.
This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, practical thinking and an understanding of manufacturing processes are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
- Create production-ready models, assemblies and component drawings
- Develop manufacturing packs including dimensions, specifications and material details
- Work closely with Production, CNC Programming and Procurement teams
- Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Resolve technical queries during manufacture
- Assist with product development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure projects are delivered accurately and on schedule
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience using SolidWorks (essential)
- Previous experience as a Production Designer, Furniture Designer, Design Engineer or Technical Designer
- Ability to produce accurate manufacturing drawings
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
Desirable Experience
- Experience within contract furniture manufacturing
- Experience working in the fit-out, hospitality or commercial interiors sector
- Mid-weight Interior Design experience would be a distinct advantage
- Experience producing tender drawings, concept layouts and presentation drawings for client quotations
- Ability to support the Sales team by translating client briefs into visually engaging designs for tender submissions
- Experience liaising directly with customers, architects and interior designers during the pre-sales and tender process
- Knowledge of joinery, upholstery or metal fabrication
- Understanding of CNC manufacturing processes
- Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
Additional Role Responsibilities
In addition to producing accurate manufacturing drawings, this role will also support our front-end Sales team during the tender process by:
- Producing high-quality quotation and tender drawings using Software packages (Sketch up / Blender)
- Interpreting client briefs, mood boards and design concepts
- Creating furniture layouts and presentation visuals for customer approval
- Working closely with Sales to develop practical, manufacturable solutions that meet both design intent and budget
- Supporting value engineering exercises where required to improve cost, manufacturability and lead times
