Fork Lift Driver/ Yard Loader Supervisor
Austin Wilkinson & Sons are looking for a full time Forklift driver / Yard Loader to work in the cross dock function of a busy transport operation. Hours are 04:00 to 12:00 with 30 minutes lunch break.
Experience of a cross dock operation beneficial but not essential.
Ideally you will hold a full UK Car license and and must have a Counter Balance Forklift license
At Austin Wilkinson's you will be trained in all aspects of transport whilst working in our busy transport distribution yard, loading & unloading using Forklift trucks.
There may be a requirement to include some ad-hoc deliveries / collections in a small van.

Our business was incorporated in 1960..based in Salford near Manchester, moving to purpose-built secure premises in ATHERTON, M46 Post Code in 1995. What vehicles do you operate.. Our current fleet strength is made up of 25 plus vehicles varying from small curtain sided vehicles up to 44 Tonne gross “ Artics”.
Responsibilities include:
· Monitor the movement of vehicles in and out of the yard to ensure that no persons are in danger of collision or injury.
· Ensure drivers are leaving the yard in a timely manner
· Keep the yard tidy and orderly at all times ensuring that there are no tripping hazards, or danger from falling or protruding items.
· Be able to load & unload a vehicle safely using the correct loading techniques and load security equipment.
· Observe strict adherence to the Company’s health and safety procedures at all times. In particular being careful in the use of equipment such as forklift trucks.
· Ensure that the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
Qualifications and Attributes
· Have good verbal communication skills
· Ability to take instructions and work under minimal supervision
· Flexible
· Be organized in prioritizing workload effectively
· Ability to work on own initiative and work as part of a team
· Have a forklift truck qualification/license
· Maintain good knowledge of health and safety policy and procedures at all times
