Cimpor UK Limited is establishing a brand-new manufacturing facility in Avonmouth, Bristol, and we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our engineering team.
This is a unique opportunity to be involved from the very beginning, supporting the installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of our new manufacturing plant. As the site becomes fully operational, you will play a key role in ensuring our equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently.

The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and continuous improvement activities across the site.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on manufacturing plant and equipment.
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
- Maintaining conveyors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, bearings, valves, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, rotating equipment and associated plant.
- Supporting the installation and commissioning of new machinery and production equipment.
- Carrying out equipment inspections and preventative maintenance in line with maintenance schedules.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical manuals.
- Supporting planned shutdowns and maintenance projects.
- Working safely in accordance with company procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the company's maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
About You
We're looking for a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Technician with excellent fault-finding skills and experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Essential Qualifications
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance (Mechanical) or an equivalent recognised mechanical engineering qualification.
- Completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience.
- Good understanding of mechanical maintenance principles and safe working practices.
Essential Experience
- Mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Mechanical fault finding and breakdown repair.
- Experience maintaining conveyors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, bearings, valves and rotating equipment.
- Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
- Strong understanding of safe isolation (Lock Out/Tag Out) and mechanical safety procedures.
Desirable
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience commissioning new machinery and equipment.
- Shutdown maintenance experience.
- Heavy industrial manufacturing experience (cement, aggregates, quarrying, steel, recycling, chemical processing or similar).
- Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
