About the Role
The Duker Academy is seeking a passionate Expatriate Primary Homeroom Teacher to lead and manage a primary classroom within an international learning environment. The successful candidate will provide holistic academic and pastoral support to students while ensuring high standards of teaching, classroom culture, and student development.
The Homeroom Teacher will serve as the primary point of contact for students and parents, fostering a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
Reports To: Head of Primary & Head of Academic Affairs
Key Responsibilities
Homeroom Leadership
- Serve as the primary classroom teacher and mentor for assigned students
- Build a positive classroom culture supporting student wellbeing, discipline, and academic growth
- Promote social-emotional development and positive student relationships
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with Cambridge and international curriculum standards
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying learning styles and abilities
- Integrate inquiry-based and student-centred learning approaches
Student Monitoring & Assessment
- Assess and monitor student academic progress and behaviour
- Prepare progress reports, report cards, and parent communication updates
- Identify and support students requiring additional academic or behavioural intervention
Parent & Staff Communication
- Maintain strong communication with parents regarding student progress and welfare
- Collaborate with specialist teachers, teaching assistants, and leadership staff
- Participate actively in meetings, school programs, and extracurricular activities
Classroom & Administrative Management
- Maintain organised classroom systems and records
- Ensure timely completion of grading, attendance, and reporting requirements
- Uphold school safeguarding, health, and safety procedures
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification/license (QTS or equivalent)
- UK-based teaching or tutoring experience
- Experience in international or Cambridge curriculum schools preferred
- Strong classroom management and pastoral care skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational abilities
