Job Overview
Dartington Crystal was established in 1967 and is a recognised leader in our field with an internationally recognized brand offering excellent opportunities for growth within our organisation.
As part of our growth plans, we're looking for a Local Area Researcher on a 3-month fixed-term contract to strengthen our Sales & Marketing / Business Development team. This role is all about building the clearest possible picture of the organisations on our doorstep — the local businesses we could supply, the sports groups and facilities we could partner with, and the schools and education sites in our area.
This is a hands-on research role with genuine autonomy. You'll work largely independently to identify, profile local organisations, generating opportunities for the business and feeding everything you find into a structured, accurate database. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys digging for information, getting the details right.
The Researcher role consists of researching local organisations to an elevated level using the internet to generate opportunities for the business.
Responsibilities
- Researching local businesses, sports groups, and schools within defined area, e.g. a 25-mile radius of Location to a high level using the internet.
- Gathering and recording key details for each organisation — name, address, decision-maker, phone, email, website, size, and any information relevant to their potential glass or glazing requirements.
- Interacting with colleagues and customers through our internal systems to keep project and contact information accurate and accessible.
- Managing your own workload to ensure information is current, accurate, and delivered in a timely manner to meet department expectations.
- Carrying out all research in line with data protection (UK GDPR) and relevant regulations.
Skills
- - Minimum of 1–2 years' experience in an outbound calling or research role — this could be in Research, Lead Generation, Account Management, or Sales.
- GCSE pass in Maths and English – Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent qualification)
- Active listener with strong attention to detail.
- Resilience, dedication, and a great work ethic, with a commitment to consistently high-quality output.
- Team player, with a sound understanding of the role you can play in helping the wider team to succeed.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, able to work independently and manage your own workload.
