LOCATION: Street or Taunton
PURPOSE: To provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to Senior Litigators across a broad range of contentious matters. The Litigation Paralegal will play a key role in the effective progression and management of matters, including liaising with clients and third parties and ensuring compliance with court procedures, requirements and deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing day-to-day legal and administrative support to Senior Litigators across a varied caseload.
- Taking initial client enquiries and obtaining relevant background information.
- Assessing initial enquiries, preparing attendance notes and arranging appointments where appropriate.
- Opening new client files and ensuring compliance with regulatory, client care and anti-money laundering requirements.
- Drafting legal documents, correspondence, witness statements, court forms, schedules and bundles.
- Preparing claim forms, applications, notices, directions questionnaires and other litigation documentation.
- Assisting with case preparation for hearings, mediations, tribunals and trials.
- Preparing trial and hearing bundles in accordance with relevant court and procedural requirements.
- Conducting legal research and preparing summaries of relevant legislation, case law and legal issues.
- Reviewing, organising and analysing disclosure and other case documentation.
- Managing document production and maintaining accurate and well-organised electronic and paper files.
- Liaising with clients, counsel, experts, courts, barristers, solicitors, estate agents, landlords, tenants and other relevant third parties.
- Monitoring court deadlines and ensuring compliance with procedural requirements, including the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
- Preparing instructions to counsel and experts as required.
- Attending court and tribunal hearings with fee earners where required.
- Recording time accurately and assisting with billing and other financial administration.
- Supporting Senior Litigators in progressing matters efficiently and effectively from initial instruction through to conclusion.

- Landlord and tenant disputes, both residential and commercial.
- Inheritance disputes and contentious probate.
- Employment disputes, including Employment Tribunal matters.
- Debt recovery.
- Contractual disputes.
- Property litigation.
- General civil litigation.
