Autism Support Assistant
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Autism Support Assistant to work with pupils in a specialist primary & secondary SEN setting. This role involves supporting children with autism and additional learning needs, helping them to access learning and develop essential social, communication, and emotional skills in a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with autism and additional needs, both 1:1 and in small groups.
- Implement strategies to promote engagement, communication, and independence in the classroom.
- Support behaviour management and encourage positive routines and structured learning.
- Work closely with teachers and the SEN team to adapt learning materials and deliver targeted interventions.
- Support pupils with social interaction, emotional regulation, and sensory needs.
- Build nurturing relationships that foster confidence, resilience, and independence.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting children with autism and additional learning needs in a school or specialist setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to implement structured strategies and interventions.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and families.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting pupils with complex needs.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
- GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)
- Available full-time (5 days a week)
