GTM, part of the Ulster group are the market leading manufacturer of specialist weaving machinery and ancillary equipment based at Washington NE38 8QA.
We currently have a vacancy for a CNC Turner (MAZAK) / Machinist to work as part of dedicated team in the machine shop, operating a range of CNC machinery to produce high quality, small quantity components you will have the following:
Qualification
- Time served CNC Programmer/ Lathe turner
- ONC / Level 3 BTEC / NVQ L3 qualification or above in an engineering discipline or a recognised Apprenticeship in Engineering supported with a City & Guilds or NVQ qualification
Experience
- 3-5 years experience working in a similar role in a precision engineering environment
- Experience of manufacturing tight tolerances on modern CNC machinery
- Experience in a continuous improvement environment participating or leading in improvement projects
- Knowledge and experience of working in an ISO 9001 environment
Main tasks:
- Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines (predominantly HAAS)
- Machine a range one off bespoke components and / or batch components
- Machining a variety of materials and parts for the textile and related industries
- Deburring and hand finishing where required
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Work to machining tolerances ensuring checks are completed against specifications
- Inspection of components to ensure quality is to the required standard
- General maintenance of tools, jigs and fixtures
- Work with wider team to improved quality, cycle times and set up procedures
- Completion of all relevant paperwork and documentation
- Ensure a high standard of safety and housekeeping is maintained including the wearing of relevant PPE, reporting of accident and potential hazards
