Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Centre is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Chef/Cook to join our busy catering team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a beautiful outdoor setting where the majority of our guests are young people.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who enjoys interacting with and supporting young people, understands the positive impact great service can have on their experience, and wants to be part of a team that truly makes a difference.
This is primarily a full-time, permanent position, although part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate and is particularly well suited to chefs and cooks with experience in schools, colleges, care homes, residential care settings, activity centres, healthcare, military catering or other large-scale catering environments, where providing nutritious, high-quality meals for groups is a key part of the role.
Unlike many hospitality roles, this position offers an excellent work-life balance, with only one in three weekends, very few evenings beyond 8:00pm, and a guaranteed two-week closure over Christmas each year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with established recipes and menu specifications.
- Ensure all food is prepared safely and in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
- Supervise and guide kitchen staff during meal preparation, providing support as required.
- Maintain a clean, organised kitchen and ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored properly.
- Deliver excellent customer service, interacting professionally and courteously with guests.
Experience:
- Proven experience ideally in a similar role or setting.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and awareness of allergens.
- A valid catering qualification and up-to-date food hygiene certificate.
- Excellent customer care, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Understanding and empathy towards the needs of young people.
Pay: £29,500.00 per year
