Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our financial management efforts. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain robust financial controls. Your expertise will drive strategic financial planning and support the company’s growth with transparency and precision.
Duties
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the company’s finance function
- Manage sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts
- Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts
- Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts and provide regular financial updates to the Directors
- Assist with annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting
- Monitor business performance, costs and profitability, highlighting any areas requiring attention
- Collate wage information and commission claims
- Complete and submit quarterly VAT returns
- Prepare draft year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants
- Ensure financial procedures and controls are maintained effectively
- Provide financial reports, analysis and information to the Directors to assist with business planning and decision-making
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and efficiency
- Work closely with colleagues across the business to gather and understand financial information
- Ensure deadlines and statutory financial requirements are met
Requirements
- Proven experience in financial management within a similar role or industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or equivalent systems.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and overall financial operations.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data clearly.
- Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to lead a finance team effectively while working collaboratively across departments.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Directors and play an important role in providing financial insight and helping to support the continued growth and development of MB Digital.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, commercially minded and takes pride in getting things right, with the confidence to take ownership of the finance function while remaining hands-on when required.

Job Type: Full-time, based at our office in Kendal
Salary: Competitive salary package for the successful applicant dependent on experience.
Holiday Entitlement: 25 days plus bank Holidays.
