Advanced Water Technologies is looking for an organised and motivated Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant to join our growing finance team at our Warrington office.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a good grounding in accounts who wants to develop their experience within a varied finance role. You'll gain exposure to both day-to-day transactional finance and, depending on your experience, wider areas including month-end processes, reconciliations and financial reporting.
You'll be joining the business during an exciting period of growth and integration as part of the wider HSL Compliance Group, working alongside an experienced accounts team and supporting the finance function across a busy, multi-regional operation.
We're open to different levels of experience – responsibilities will be tailored accordingly, with opportunities to develop and take on more as you progress.
What you'll be doing
Depending on your existing experience, your responsibilities may include:
- Processing purchase invoices and supplier statements accurately and on time
- Supporting sales invoicing and job-related billing
- Maintaining accurate financial and job information across our accounting and internal business systems
- Assisting with credit control and resolving customer account queries
- Reconciling supplier and customer accounts
- Supporting supplier payment runs and associated checks
- Carrying out bank and account reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end processes and preparation of month-end information
- Supporting journals, accruals and prepayments
- Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
- Supporting the preparation of management information and financial reporting
- Working with operational teams to resolve invoicing, purchasing and job-costing queries
- Helping to ensure costs and revenues are correctly allocated to jobs and accounting periods
- Maintaining accurate financial records and document control
- Supporting the wider accounts team with additional finance tasks, reporting and projects
The exact mix of responsibilities will depend on your experience. We're equally interested in candidates who can already support some of our month-end activities and those with good accounts experience who are looking for the opportunity to develop in these areas.
What we're looking for
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Accounts Administrator or similar role
- Experience of purchase ledger and/or sales ledger processes
- A good understanding of basic accounting principles
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Confidence using Microsoft Excel and working with financial data
- Experience using accounting software and/or ERP/business management systems
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive approach to investigating and resolving queries
- Good communication skills when dealing with colleagues, customers and suppliers
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and take on additional responsibility
AAT qualified, currently studying towards AAT, or an interest in progressing towards an accounting qualification would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
Previous exposure to month-end processes, journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations or management accounts would also be advantageous, but isn't a requirement. Training and support can be provided for the right candidate.
