Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced and qualified Maintenance Engineer to join our manufacturing team. Working within a busy packaging production environment, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving a wide range of production machinery and site equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys problem-solving, preventative maintenance and contributing to continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all production machinery and site equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on machinery and equipment.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
- Provide out-of-hours breakdown cover when required.
- Install machinery improvements, modifications and upgrades.
- Maintain and repair equipment including:
- Printing machines
- Die-cutters
- Gluing machines
- Compactors
- Forklift trucks
- General building facilities and infrastructure
- Induct contractors onto site and assist with maintenance projects where required.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Complete maintenance records, job sheets and relevant paperwork accurately.
- Maintain engineering stores inventory and assist with the ordering of replacement parts and consumables.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Mechanical Engineer (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent).
- Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within an industrial setting.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Experience of packaging, print or converting machinery would be advantageous but is not essential.
