We are looking for reliable and enthusiastic self-employed delivery and collection drivers to join our lively team based at our Reading depot.
Previous multi-drop delivery experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided. We are looking for people with a good attitude who are reliable, willing to learn and comfortable working independently.
The Role
You will be responsible for completing a multi-drop delivery and collection route, providing a professional and reliable service to our customers throughout the day.
Your duties will include:
- Safely operating a 3.5t long-wheelbase commercial van to complete multiple daily deliveries and collections across local RG postcodes
- Loading and unloading parcels and ensuring goods are handled safely and correctly
- Handling parcels weighing up to 25kg
- Completing timed deliveries and collections and prioritising these throughout your route
- Following planned routes accurately and using navigation systems to help optimise delivery and collection times
- Using your knowledge of local roads and traffic conditions to complete your route efficiently
- Conducting routine vehicle checks to help ensure the vehicle is safe and roadworthy
- Working independently and using your own initiative to resolve issues while out on the road
- Communicating professionally with customers and team members
- Maintaining a professional and positive attitude throughout the working day
What We're Looking For
- Minimum age of 21
- Minimum of 1 year's driving experience
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
- Reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Positive, can-do attitude
- Able to work independently and use your own initiative
- Able to organise and prioritise your workload when under pressure
- Physically fit and comfortable with regular lifting and handling of parcels up to 25kg
- Comfortable driving a 3.5t long-wheelbase van
- Good understanding of UK traffic laws and safe driving practices
- Familiarity with local roads and navigation systems is advantageous
- Previous experience driving vans or commercial vehicles is advantageous
- Previous multi-drop delivery experience is preferred but not essential
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and safe lifting techniques would be beneficial
- Must be able to pass a Basic DBS check
- Must have the right to work in the UK
- Full training provided
