Watch Repair Intake & Administration Coordinator
Postal Repairs UK Ltd – Altrincham, Greater Manchester, WA14 4DZ
£26,000–£30,000 per year, depending on experience
Full-time | Permanent | In person
The Role
We are looking for an exceptionally organised, dependable and detail-focused person to take ownership of the intake and administration of customer watches arriving at our Altrincham workshop.
This is not a conventional desk-based administration role. You will personally handle, photograph, inspect and accurately record customers' watches, many of which are valuable and highly sentimental.
Every watch needs to be correctly identified, documented and moved securely through our workshop process. Accuracy, organisation and trust are therefore fundamental to this position.
You do not need to be a watch expert. We will provide training in watch terminology, repair processes and our systems. We are more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, excellent attention to detail and the ability to take responsibility for their work.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Receiving and opening incoming customer parcels.
- Carefully handling watches and customer property.
- Checking watches and accompanying items against customer information.
- Photographing watches and accurately recording their condition on arrival.
- Booking watches into our repair management system.
- Identifying and recording discrepancies, damage or missing information.
- Ensuring watches and accompanying items remain correctly identified and securely controlled throughout the workshop process.
- Organising incoming repairs securely within the workshop.
- Preparing jobs for assessment by our technicians.
- Tracking watches through the different stages of the repair process.
- Maintaining accurate workshop records.
- Supporting stock and parts administration.
- Preparing repaired watches and documentation for secure return to customers.
- Supporting the wider workshop team with day-to-day administration.
As your knowledge develops, there will be an opportunity to progress into preparing repair estimates and quotations and to take greater responsibility for workshop coordination.
Who We're Looking For
The most important qualities for this position are trust, accuracy and reliability.
You are likely to suit this role if you:
- Have strong administrative or operational experience.
- Naturally notice small details and discrepancies.
- Are highly organised and methodical.
- Take ownership of your work and see tasks through.
- Are comfortable handling valuable and delicate customer property.
- Can follow established processes consistently.
- Are confident using computers, databases and web-based systems.
- Communicate clearly and professionally.
- Enjoy working in a practical, operational environment.
- Can work independently whilst contributing to a small team.
- Take pride in getting things right.
We particularly welcome applications from people who have worked in environments where accuracy, security, record keeping or careful handling of customer property are important.
Relevant backgrounds could include watches, jewellery, luxury retail, repair services, after-sales, optics, pharmacy, banking, stock control, logistics, quality control or similar environments.
Previous watch or jewellery experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
