Practice Operations Manager
Qualifications:

We are looking for an experienced Practice Operations Manager to join our busy GP practice and take ownership of the day-to-day running of the surgery.
Working alongside the Practice Manager, you will lead the operational side of the practice — managing our reception, administrative and clinical support teams, keeping us compliant with CQC standards and our NHS contractual obligations, and driving improvements that make the practice run better for staff and patients alike.
What the role involves
- Overseeing daily operations and making sure the team delivers against their responsibilities
- Line managing the Reception Manager, Senior Administrator, Senior Receptionist, HCA and Practice Nurse
- Maintaining CQC compliance, practice policies, health and safety and risk assessments
- Overseeing the administrative side of QOF in partnership with our clinical team
- Leading recruitment, induction, appraisal and staff development, including mandatory training
- Managing budgets, procurement, supplier contracts and reporting to the partners on financial matters
- Acting as complaints manager and supporting the Patient Participation Group
- Leading change, service improvement and project work across the practice
What we're looking for
- Proven experience of managing multidisciplinary teams, including performance management, appraisals and disciplinary processes
- Sound understanding of HR legislation and employment practice
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and delegate under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and confidence dealing with external stakeholders
- Strong general IT skills; EMIS Web experience is desirable but not essential
- A calm, solutions-focused approach and high standards of integrity and confidentiality
Experience in primary care is an advantage, though we will consider strong operational managers from other sectors.
Other requirements
Enhanced DBS check, full UK driving licence, and some flexibility to work outside core hours.
