Job Summary
Mega City is a large, multi-level indoor entertainment venue in the centre of Slough. Our attractions include 10 modern string bowling lanes, arcade machines, laser tag, virtual reality, karaoke, batting cages, sports simulators, AR darts, bars, a commercial kitchen and much more.
We are looking for a practical and dependable Bowling Technician to join our maintenance team. While maintaining our bowling equipment will be an important part of the position, this is a varied, hands-on role covering general building maintenance, statutory checks, attractions and facilities throughout the venue.
Duties
Bowling and attraction maintenance
- Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance on bowling lanes, pinsetters and associated equipment.
- Respond quickly to bowling faults and minimise disruption to guests.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and operational faults.
- Carry out basic repairs to attractions, arcade equipment and other venue machinery.
- Monitor equipment condition and escalate recurring or specialist faults.
- Support external engineers and specialist contractors when required.
- Ensure equipment is safe and fully operational before returning it to use.
General building maintenance
- Complete general repairs throughout the venue, including fixtures, fittings, doors, locks, furniture, walls and flooring.
- Carry out basic plumbing, decorating and minor repair work within the limits of your competence.
- Inspect public areas, back-of-house spaces, plant rooms, stores, bars, kitchens and maintenance areas.
- Respond promptly to leaks, damage, lighting failures and other building-related faults.
- Assist with assembling, installing and moving equipment, furniture and venue fixtures.
- Maintain tools, spare parts, workshops and maintenance areas in a safe and organised condition.
- Support the management team with general facilities and operational tasks when required.
- Help maintain the external appearance and immediate surrounding areas of the building.
Safety and compliance checks
- Complete and accurately record daily, weekly and monthly building checks.
- Inspect fire alarm panels and report any faults, warnings or isolations immediately.
- Complete scheduled fire alarm tests when trained and authorised to do so.
- Check fire doors, emergency exits, escape routes and fire safety equipment for visible damage or obstruction.
- Conduct emergency-lighting checks and report any failures.
- Complete routine checks of lighting, electrical equipment, water systems and other building services.
- Maintain equipment-inspection, repair, fault and contractor records.
- Ensure identified faults are recorded, followed up and closed within the required timescale.
- Assist with statutory inspections and provide access to external contractors.
- Follow health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work at all times.
- Immediately report anything that may affect the safety of guests, employees or contractors.
What we are looking for
- Previous experience in bowling, leisure, engineering, mechanical maintenance, facilities maintenance or a similar technical environment is highly desirable.
- General building-maintenance experience and practical repair skills.
- Good mechanical and basic electrical fault-finding knowledge.
- Confidence using hand and power tools safely.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety and the importance of accurate maintenance records.
- A proactive approach and the ability to identify problems before they become serious.
- Ability to prioritise urgent faults in a busy, customer-facing environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work without constant supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and a safety-first attitude.
- Reliability, punctuality and flexibility.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.
Direct bowling experience would be an advantage, but applicants with transferable experience in facilities maintenance, mechanical engineering, amusement equipment, production machinery, automotive repair or general building maintenance are encouraged to apply.
Pay: £25,420.00-£28,000.00 per year
