Duties:
Ideally we are looking for someone with experience and can manage a workshop environment. When vehicles come in they carry out a pdi, allocate work to bodyshops, valeters, etc. When a vehicle is sold they ensure that the vehicle is fully prepared and inspected and ready for the customer.
They are able to carry out and assist with the workshop tasks, mechanical, interior or minor bodywork.
* Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
* Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
* Verify stock performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
* Complies with legal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.* Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
* Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance.
* Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
* Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
* Carry out services on outgoing stock
* Provide Estimates for Potential Part exchanges, Aswell as estimating Costs of repair for said part exchanges
* Provide Estimates for the cost of repair of diagnosed issues as well as providing advice on whether said repair would provide a benefit
Key Skills:
*Technician/Mechanics must have a minimum of NVQ level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
*Demonstrates an honest and diligent approach to work
*Has a flexible approach to time-keeping
*Previous diagnostic experience would be an advantage and an understanding of automotive systems and functionalities
* Systematic and organized; pays attention to the finer details
* a flexible schedule and a willingness to work overtime when needed.
