Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Scaffold Yard Staff member to join our team. This role involves managing and maintaining scaffold materials in a busy warehouse environment, supporting construction projects, and ensuring safety and efficiency in daily operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in warehouse management, materials handling, and mechanical knowledge, with the ability to work effectively in a physically demanding setting. Duties
- Safely load, unload, and organise scaffold components and materials using appropriate equipment such as forklifts
- Assist with the storage, stacking, and retrieval of scaffold parts within the yard
- Operate forklift trucks and other warehouse machinery in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels using warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Prepare materials for shipping and receiving, ensuring all items are correctly labelled and stored
- Conduct routine inspections of scaffold components for damage or wear, reporting any issues promptly
- Support the organisation of the yard to optimise space utilisation and workflow efficiency
- Assist with general warehouse duties including inventory control, cleaning, and organisation
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure timely delivery of scaffold materials to site
Skills
- Proven experience with forklift operation and materials handling within a warehouse or construction environment
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory control and tracking
- Mechanical knowledge related to scaffold components and assembly processes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and manual handling of materials
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures and safety standards in a logistics setting
- Experience in construction or scaffolding is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and supervisors
