To be one of the competent persons for Health and Safety fulfilling the trust’s legal obligations. This includes developing, implementing, and managing the systems and processes for effective health and safety management across the Trust; assisting the organisation in achieving compliance with its statutory duties under Health and Safety, and other related law.
Review Trust H&S arrangements and assist in developing an H&S Strategy taking responsibility for ensuring that the Trust has safe systems of work and processes in place
Develop, co-ordinate and monitor the H&S culture and performance of the trust ensuring compliance with all statutory duties and legal requirements for H&S
Ensure that the Trust is duly committed and that appropriate support is in place to ensure that the management of H&S is integrated into the organisational and operation structures. Implement, review and monitor performance against policy and procedures, audit and report frequently on H&S performance
Responsible for devising and leading a programme which systematically recognises, reports, analyses, evaluates
Develop close working relationships with the HSE and other external agencies
Work closely with Trust safety specialists, Fire Safety Advisor, Radiation Safety Advisors as needed, and all Trust Directors, Senior and Middle Management to provide good practice in H&S Risk Management and risk reductions through National Standards, and accreditation processes, providing highly competent professional advice on the protection of patients, staff, visitors and the Trust’s assets
Act as a competent person, as designated under the management of H& S at Work Regulations 1999 and any amendments for the Trust by providing expert advice to the Trust on how to minimise risk and provide a safe operating environment including the legal responsibility with this role
