WORKSHOP CONTROLLER

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Workshop Controller to join our busy, manufacturer approved accident repair centre.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing workshop productivity, controlling repair flow, coordinating technicians and ensuring vehicles progress efficiently through every stage of the repair process. This position is critical to maintaining high levels of efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control the daily workflow of the workshop.
- Allocate repair work to technicians based on skill set, availability and repair requirements.
- Monitor vehicle progress and ensure repairs are completed within agreed timescales.
- Maintain workshop loading to maximise efficiency and productivity.
- Liaise with estimators, parts departments, customer service teams and management to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Identify and resolve repair delays, parts issues and workflow bottlenecks.
- Conduct regular work in progress reviews and provide updates on vehicle status.
- Ensure manufacturer repair methods and company procedures are followed at all times.
- Support quality control processes to ensure repairs meet required standards before vehicle handover.
- Monitor technician productivity and efficiency levels.
- Assist with planning workshop capacity and resource requirements.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained throughout the workshop.
- Work closely with suppliers and parts departments to minimise downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve workshop performance.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Production Manager, Senior Technician or similar role within the accident repair or automotive industry.
- Strong understanding of vehicle repair processes and workshop operations.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem solving abilities.
- Experience using bodyshop management and estimating systems would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of manufacturer repair standards and industry best practices.
- Ability to motivate and coordinate workshop teams to achieve performance targets.

Pay: £34,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
