Job Summary
Join our busy and friendly catering team and play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality food services across the School Foundation.
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to assist with maintaining a clean, safe and efficient kitchen environment.The successful candidate will support the catering team with washing up, cleaning kitchen areas and equipment and ensuring high standards of hygiene are maintained at all times.
Duties
- To clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials
- To dispose of waste materials from catering areas to designated collection points, following any waste separation systems
- To operate industrial dishwashers in all catering areas
- To operate mechanical floor scrubbing and steam cleaning equipment
- To transport provisions, equipment and other catering related items as required
- To maintain clean working environment at all times, with special regard to hygiene
- To ensure that all food is prepared in the environment with due care and attention, particularly in regard to customers’ special dietary requirements: for example, nut, dairy or wheat allergies
- To undertake occasional duties outside the normal routine but within the scope of the position and the department’s activities

- Literate and Numerate
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to achieve performance criteria, with regard to hygiene
- Positive approach to learning in role
- Self-motivated
- Sense of own initiative
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexible approach to role
- Hygiene qualification, or equivalent
- Previous catering experience
