We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate weekend Cook to join our team at Lorraine's Residential Care Home .
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appetizing meals for our residents while adhering to dietary restrictions and food safety standards. The Cook will contribute to creating a welcoming dining atmosphere and ensure that our residents receive high-quality care through our culinary services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and present nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and residents' preferences.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor food preparation and storage practices to meet food safety guidelines.
- Assist in the training and supervision of kitchen staff and volunteers.
- Cater to special dietary requests and allergies, ensuring all meals are tailored to individual resident needs.
- Participate in regular taste tests and menu evaluations to enhance meal satisfaction.
- Maintain inventory and order kitchen supplies as needed.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members about meal options and any dietary concerns.
- Assist with serving meals and cleaning dining areas as necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or certification preferred.
- Previous experience in a cooking role, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to follow recipes and adapt them according to dietary requirements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and able to work effectively with elderly residents.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Capability of lifting and carrying heavy kitchen equipment and supplies.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 20.0 per week
