Killeavy Castle Estate is seeking a Commis Chef for its award winning hotel - recently voted National Winner of Castle Hotel of the Year and Ulster Fine Dining Hotel of the Year at the Irish Hotel Awards.
In your role of Commis Chef, you will be responsible for being part of the kitchen and food service team within the Hotel and reporting directly to the Head Chef and Executive Chef.
Role Objective;
Working as part of the kitchen and food service team, the Commis Chef will provide the highest of food service in a customer focused environment. You will possess excellent interpersonal, communication skills and will enjoy building good relationships.
Key Duties include;
- To prepare, cook and present all dishes within area of responsibility to the correct menu specification with regard to quality and quantity.
- Helping the sous chef and head chef to develop new dishes and menus
- Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
- Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
- Measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes accurately
- Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation
- To assist in the preparation of food according to recipes and cooking standards.
- To ensure that any problems with food quality are identified and dealt with or reported promptly to the appropriate person
- To maintain all storage areas with regard to temperature, ventilation and cleanliness.
- To ensure that all food items are stored under the correct conditions according to food type.
- Flexibility with working hours is essential within this role.
- Reliable, hardworking and have the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen alongside a friendly efficient team.
- Other duties as requested by management. Key Skills and Experience include;

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour

- Newry, County Down: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
