Electronics Engineer
Location: Coventry
Reporting to: Engineering Project Manager
We are seeking a highly organised and technically capable Electronics Engineer with proven experience in designing, developing, and supporting electronic systems within regulated or safety‑critical environments. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on exposure to PCB design, embedded electronics, control systems, and the full engineering lifecycle from concept through to production and in‑service support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate electronic assemblies including control units, lighting systems, sensor interfaces, and embedded hardware.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and update existing electronic designs, ensuring continued compliance and manufacturability.
- Produce schematics, layouts, and manufacturing data for new and updated PCB designs.
- Integrate and test communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, or similar fieldbus technologies.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation including BOMs, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and design reports.
- Support prototype assembly, bring‑up, debugging, and verification activities.
- Work closely with suppliers, PCB manufacturers, and assembly partners to resolve technical queries and ensure build quality.
- Manage engineering change requests (ECRs) and maintain configuration control across all hardware.
- Ensure designs meet relevant electrical, EMC, environmental, and safety standards.
- Contribute to process improvements across design, testing, and documentation workflows.
- Work closely with mechanical, software, and production teams to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.
- Diagnose complex hardware issues and drive them to resolution with clear, traceable documentation.
What You Will Need
- Engineering qualification HNC, HND, BEng, or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in electronics design, development, or hardware engineering.
- Strong understanding of PCB design, electronic components, circuit analysis, and embedded hardware fundamentals.
- Experience working within regulated, safety‑critical, or high‑reliability environments (defence, automotive, aerospace, industrial, etc.).
- Ability to produce clear, accurate engineering documentation and test evidence.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and customers.
- Capable of managing workload, prioritising tasks, and delivering to deadlines.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across hardware and system‑level issues.
- Ability to maintain configuration control, versioning, and traceability throughout the design lifecycle.
