Thames Valley Police (TVP) is making a significant, multi-year investment in our Forensic Services and is transforming our wide array of forensic disciplines as well as crime scene investigation, to create a forward looking, accredited service which delivers proportionate, timely services that support effective crime investigation for TVP and other external organisations.
As part of this transformation, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Digital Portfolio of Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU) as Forensic Administrator working within the Digital Forensic Hub at Aylesbury Police Station. This is a secondment lasting until 31/03/2027.
This is a unique and hands‑on opportunity to join our Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU), where you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity and continuity of forensic and biometric evidence. You will act as a professional and reliable point of contact between the FIU and its customers, supporting the organisation’s commitment to securing detections and convictions.
A key purpose of this role is the physical handling, movement, and manual processing of forensic exhibits, often involving the lifting, transporting, and secure management of items of varying size and weight. Candidates must be comfortable with regular manual handling as a central part of the job.
Key Responsibilities:

Manual handling, movement, and secure management of digital forensic exhibits, ensuring integrity at every stage.

Quality‑assuring, documenting, and recording exhibits on computerised systems and updating results as required.

Managing incoming and outgoing post and dispatches, including the secure packaging and preparation of exhibits for onward transmission.

Providing general administrative and clerical support such as call handling, filing, typing, and photocopying.

Presenting a professional interface between the FIU and internal/external customers.
You will have recent experience of working in an administrative role, working to deadlines along with proven computer skills and the ability to interrogate and accurately input data from a variety of sources. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the established psychological screening process and an enhanced level of vetting.

If the secondment is not supported then the role may be offered on a fixed term contract basis, but this has implications including loss of continuous service protections.
Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.
