We are seeking a capable resource to coordinate a range of activities, from simple tasks to more complex plans. This role will provide on-site/on-call assistance to end-users within the organization’s desktop computing environment in a timely and accurate manner to ensure optimal service delivery.
1. Hardware & Server Support
- Rack and install servers, switches, routers, and other IT equipment.
- Perform power cycling and basic hardware diagnostics.
- Install, replace, or upgrade components such as hard drives, RAM, and server blades.
- Assist with firmware updates and remote management configuration.
- Decommission and remove old hardware.
2. Network Support
- Install and patch Ethernet and fiber optic cables.
- Troubleshoot physical network connectivity issues.
- Replace fiber patch cords and work with patch panels.
- Install and test wireless access points.
3. Remote Hands Support
- Act as the on-site technician for remote IT teams.
- Execute instructions from remote engineers.
- Report server status, LED indicators, console messages, and hardware errors.
- Perform visual and physical inspections.
4. Backup & Media Management
- Handle backup tape loading and unloading.
- Maintain tape inventory.
- Resolve tape library (ATL) and media-related issues.
5. Vendor & Facility Coordination
- Coordinate with hardware vendors for installations and replacements.
- Work with security and facilities teams for rack moves and maintenance.
- Conduct site surveys for power, cooling, and cabling requirements.
6. Documentation
- Maintain asset inventory.
- Label and organize cables according to standards.
- Update rack layouts, network diagrams, and power/cooling documentation.
- Report status and abnormalities to the remote support team.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Electronics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a data center or field support.
- Knowledge of: Server hardware
- Networking fundamentals
- Storage systems
- Ethernet and fiber cabling
- Patch panels
- Remote management tools (such as iDRAC, iLO, or IPMI)
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Willingness to work shifts and be on-call.
