To deliver high-quality maintenance and engineering support across a range of building systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of mechanical, electrical, and general facilities. The role supports both planned and reactive maintenance, contributing to a safe and comfortable living environment for students and staff.
Key Objectives
· Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across multiple disciplines.
· Ensure compliance with health and safety and statutory regulations.
· Support operational continuity and minimise downtime of building systems.
· Provide technical expertise and contribute to continuous improvement.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform maintenance and repair tasks across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building fabric systems.
· Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests, diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions.
· Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules and service standards.
· Conduct routine inspections of plant rooms, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient operation.
· Maintain accurate records of work completed, including service logs, compliance checks, and asset updates.
· Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate works and resolve issues.
· Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
· Support emergency response procedures including out-of-hours call-outs if required.
· Identify opportunities for service improvements and contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
· Proven experience in a multi-skilled engineering or maintenance role, ideally within facilities or accommodation settings.
· Strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
· Relevant qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent in M&E or building services).
· Understanding of statutory compliance, building regulations, and health & safety legislation.
· Ability to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
· Proficient in using CAFM systems, Microsoft Office, and digital reporting tools.
· Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
