About Us We are in the final stages of applying to become a registered charity. Our mission is to provide accessible, compassionate mental health support to anyone who needs it, through secure online one-to-one sessions and community outreach. We are building a dedicated team of volunteers to help us deliver consistent, caring support as we grow.
Time Commitment
- Shift length: 4 hours per shift
- Pattern: Fixed, same days and times every week — consistency helps us build trust with the people we support
- Training: Approximately 8 hours total, expected to be completed within 2 weeks of joining
- Additional: Occasional short team check-ins or supervision sessions (arranged around your schedule)
Role OverviewThis is a fully remote, online volunteer position. You will deliver support and raise awareness via our Facebook page, and provide regular, ongoing one-to-one support to matched service users through voice or video calls
.Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Initial Support
- Post content hourly on our Facebook page during your shift to share mental health information, signposting, and service updates.
- Respond promptly and sensitively to all incoming messages and enquiries via Facebook inbox.
- Signpost people to appropriate support and explain how our one-to-one service works.
One-to-One Support coming soon
- Provide consistent weekly support to the same individual each week, via voice or video call, according to their preference.
- Listen without judgement, offer emotional support, and help people explore their feelings and coping strategies.
- Recognise signs of crisis or risk, and follow our agreed procedures to escalate concerns and keep people safe.
- Maintain professional boundaries and strict confidentiality at all times.
Team & Service Development
- Work effectively both independently and as part of our wider volunteer team.
- Share your ideas, feedback, and suggestions with management to help us improve our service and how we operate.
- Attend any required team check-ins or supervision sessions.
Training & Compliance
- Complete the selection process, including responding to a short scenario task at interview.
- Successfully finish the 8-hour Open University training course after acceptance — we expect this to take no longer than 2 weeks to complete.
- Once we achieve charity registration, complete an enhanced DBS check (we will arrange and cover the cost for this).
