Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide essential assistance to individuals with disabilities. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those requiring support with daily activities. The role involves working closely with clients to promote independence, safety, and wellbeing within a supportive environment. The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in caring for others and possess excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and household tasks
- Develop and implement personalised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and families
- Support clients in participating in social and recreational activities to promote engagement and wellbeing
- Provide transportation as needed, including driving clients to appointments or community activities
- Monitor and record client progress, reporting any concerns or changes to the relevant team members
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to ensure consistent care delivery
Requirements
- Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is highly desirable
- Valid driving licence and ability to drive safely within the community
- Knowledge of childcare practices and support strategies tailored to individual needs
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families
- Basic IT skills for documentation and communication purposes
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support others’ independence and quality of life
- Ability to work flexibly within scheduled shifts, including some evenings or weekends if required.
- Looking for Personal Assistants for the following -
- Wednesday & Thursday
- Tuesday & Friday (on contract)
- Two Saturdays a month
- Bank work (to cover possible shifts Tuesday- Saturday)
- To start immediately pending PVG application.
- Manual driver's licence essential.
- About my employer-
- A lovely lady with cerebral palsy who requires assistance with everyday tasks such as admin, attending social activities, going to the toilet, shopping, assisting with college work and helping her with volunteer work that she is involved in, and any other duties she requires help with.
