Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sample Analysis Technician to join our team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the chemical composition and quality of our aerospace-grade aluminium products meet both customer and industry specifications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for sampling and analysing predominantly 7000 series aluminium alloys using our spectrometer, interpreting results, preparing customer samples, and supporting quality assurance processes throughout the production cycle.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail and an interest in metallurgy. The role will develop over time to include greater involvement in customer documentation, quality reporting, and spectrometer management.
Key Responsibilities
Spectrometer Analysis
- Prepare and analyse aluminium samples.
- Accurately assess chemical composition results against customer and internal specifications.
- Identify and escalate any non-conforming results to the relevant departments.
Sample Preparation and Customer Support
- Cut, prepare, label, and package samples for customer approval and testing requirements.
- Maintain accurate traceability records for all samples tested and dispatched.
- Ensure customer samples are prepared to a consistently high standard.
Equipment Calibration and Maintenance
- Perform daily calibration checks using certified master samples.
- Verify calibration results and ensure equipment remains within specification.
- Maintain calibration records and support ongoing laboratory quality controls.
Quality Assurance
- Cross-check alloy specifications against customer requirements and applicable standards.
- Maintain accurate records and test reports.
- Support investigations into quality issues.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in quality control environments.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Previous experience working with a spectrometer.
Technical Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling samples and analysing results.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and follow procedures.
- Strong level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications such as excel
Future Development
As the role develops, the successful candidate will become increasingly involved in customer certification documentation, quality reporting, laboratory system improvements, and supporting wider quality assurance activities across the business.
Pay: From £34,000.00 per year
